What is Maakplaats?
Danspunt provides a space for your dance laboratory 7 days a week, where you can explore, innovate, and present your work. We do this by providing studio space, coaching, visibility through our social media channels, and the opportunity to hold a showcase or open rehearsal for a limited audience.
Who are you?
You are domiciled in Flanders or Brussels.
You are a new creator in the amateur dance or pre-professional field:
- You are a student and want to explore your own dance language. This research is outside the scope of your school projects.
- You have just left school and are searching for your own dance language.
- You are a creator with no or very limited financial resources and you are looking for support to conduct the first experiments for your new project.
You are a dance teacher:
- You already teach dance and need research space to find new teaching material. This research is outside your regular activities.
You are a recently graduated dancer:
- You are a recently graduated dancer but feel the urge to discover your own choreography skills.
- You are a recently graduated dancer and are toying with the idea of offering dance classes and are looking for a place to develop your material.
You have a dance school/group:
- The dancers in your dance school/group do not pay tuition fees. You need a laboratory to give your co-creation its initial form.

How do I get started?
Step 1.
Before you register with Maakplaats, take a look at our technical specifications and house rules to make sure our studios are suitable for your research. Then fill in the application form as fully as possible. Make sure your new project is defined and delineated.
Step 2.
Danspunt will assess whether your application fits within the narrative and resources of Maakplaats. If it is a match, we will work with you to find the best dates. All agreements will be laid down in a user agreement, which you will sign digitally before the start of your studio time. If desired, we will then discuss your coaching requirements and the timing of your showcase or open rehearsal.
Step 3.
You will receive a personal access code that you must not share with anyone else. This will give you access at the agreed times. Are you new to our building? We will welcome you with a tour and discuss any questions you may have.
Step 4.
From now on, the studio is yours! Danspunt will leave you in peace to work, but we’re always available to answer your questions.
We see you!
During your stay at our studios, we ensure you and your project are visible to the outside world. Every Maakplaats resident gets the opportunity to make a short dance video featuring our dynamic Maakplaats logo. In addition, we create content together in the form of an interview, a tutorial or photos on our website and socials (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.).
