Stop and dance

A card game with 50 fun dance exercises for children.

Stil(l) in dans

Do you work creatively with children and do you enjoy musical education and dance? Are  you looking for fun educational tools for your dance lesson or workshop? If so, these dance cards are a must-have!

The playful assignments encourage participants to develop basic skills for dance: awareness of the body, dance memory, mindset, creativity, connection with the group, cooperation, coordination, imagination and visualisation, orientation, playfulness, concentration, dealing with coincidence, dealing with physical contact, discovering the power of limitations and much more.

Each and every one of these assignments helps to develop children’s awareness of their bodies through their natural abilities: play, curiosity and a love of exploration and interaction.

The illustrator, Leonard Cools, made a conscious choice to work in a square format, so that there is no ‘up’ or ‘down’. That means you can form more than 100 positions with 26 cards. By drawing incomplete figures and ignoring the laws of anatomy and gravity, he has depicted positions that are impossible to imitate precisely. That encourages the children to interpret them in their own ways.

The assignments are intended for children aged 4 to 12, with or without dance experience. Adult groups are sure to be inspired by them too.
