Let us dance (Laat ons dansen)
Our amateur arts sector is in danger. We — BREEDBEELD, Creatief Schrijven, Danspunt, Kunstwerkt, Koor&Stem, Muziekmozaïek, OPENDOEK, VLAMO and VI.BE — have been informed that Minister Caroline Gennez intends to make drastic cuts to the Flemish amateur arts landscape. From 2027 onwards, we would receive 13% less funding.
But cutting our budget means cutting support for 2 million creative people in Flanders and Brussels with whom we dance, play, sing, write, create, imagine, and connect every day. A 13% reduction in funding for the nine amateur arts organizations means 13% fewer inspiring projects, opportunities, and initiatives that bring people together.
