Newsletters and mailings

You can keep interested parties informed of your activities and plans via mailings or newsletters.

From your personal email

When sending an email to a group of people using your own email address or mailbox, always make sure that your recipients are listed in the ‘BCC’ (blind copy) field. This prevents all recipients from knowing each other's addresses and/or using them for other types of emails without permission, and ensures that these email addresses are better protected.

With a newsletter program

Do you send out regular mailings? Then you're better off using a simple newsletter program such as MailChimp or Campaign Monitor.

With such a program, you don't have to select your recipients one by one and you can save different groups of recipients: for example, you can create a separate mailing group for ‘participants in the 2024 children's dance course’, ‘former teachers’ or ‘cultural center programmers’. This way, you can send each email to the right audience.

You can also make sure that people can automatically subscribe to your newsletter via your website. This allows you to reach new interested parties immediately.

If someone unsubscribes from your mailing list and no longer wishes to receive emails, the mailing program automatically keeps track of this. This means you don't have to remember who should or shouldn't receive your emails.

A newsletter program also allows you to design your emails attractively and (very useful!) keep statistics on your mailings. You can see how many people opened your email, who clicked on which link, etc. This allows you to learn more about your audience and make your newsletters more successful.

In any case, make sure you don't send newsletters too often and that you send the mailings to relevant people. Anyone who receives too many or uninteresting emails will be annoyed, lose interest, and unsubscribe.

Before you start, it's best to check what the GDPR privacy legislation allows you to do in terms of mailings and newsletters.
